Feeling a sense of heaviness as I gather the news about a friend and client who has entered hospice care. I want to think my clients are friends, but I know it’s OK that not all are. And I am smart enough to know that caring does not equal good service. However, when we do provide good service, friendships grow. Something about working with people on real estate transactions, buying, selling, negotiating, and all this messy stuff creates strong bonds. Those ultra-connected conversations fade to touching base and following up as time becomes the adversary of connectedness. When learning I might not speak to Doug again, I realized he was more than a client, and I will miss my friend.
